Overview

Ghale Gaun Trek sits as one of the shortest Annapurna Region Trekking Packages out there with its core values similar to the Tamang Heritage Trek of the Langtang Region. While the latter tour shows its visitors the hospitality of the Tamang People, the first one marks the friendliness of the typical Gurung People.

Unlike most of the trekking packages of the Annapurna Region such as the Annapurna Base Camp Trek which starts from Pokhara, this trek doesn't start from there. In fact, this trip starts from the headquarters of the Lamjung Region, Besisahar. The drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar is just around 5 to 6 hours long and follows the Prithvi Highway along the Trishuli River. Another hour's drive sees us at the village of Khudi. Rest for the time being!

The next day our hike sees us at the village of Ghale Gaun via an easy climb uphill. Ghale Gaun is a typical Gurung settlement offering remarkable views of the Annapurna, Machhpuchhre, Himal Chuli, Lamjung, and such other peaks of the Annapurna Mountain Range. We'll take a day off to enjoy and explore the Ghale Gaun. The town amidst the Annapurna Circuit Trail is also home to the recently established SAARC Village Tourism Museum. Explore the culture, learn some language may be, and get acquainted with the local norms and values. Drop back down to Besisahar and then back to Kathmandu to end our short Cultural Trek. While at Besisahar, don't forget to explore the Lamjung Durbar, only if time persists. Also, savor in the views of the Marshyangdi Khol and also the Gaikhure Jharana (waterfall) en-route to Besisahar.

There's nothing more fun than exploring the typical cultures of the Himalayas. Are you ready to explore one?
