Overview

Gosaikunda Trek sits as a pilgrimage trekking package at the Langtang Region in Nepal. This trek not only marks our visit to the Gosaikunda but also to the Langtang Valley making it a two in one package.

The trek starts off with a drive to Syabrubesi via Dhunche the same as the Langtang Valley Trek. Parade through Pahiro, and the Rimche villages to arrive at the Lama Hotel. Hike farther up to Ghoda Tabela before finally making it to the Langtang Village. The village is fully restored following its destruction in the Earthquake 2015, no need to worry now. Walk further up from the center of the Langtang National Park and mark our arrival at the Kyanjin Gompa. This village has the largest Mani wall in the country. Explore the Gompa during the day but beforehand, summit the 5000 meters tall peak of Tserko RI early in the morning. Oh, we almost forgot about the Yah Cheese Factory near the Gompa. If time persists, we’ll also visit the Langtang Lirung Glacier and a lake nearby.

Now it’s time to move on to our major destination, Gosaikunda. For that, drop back to the Lama Hotel and further down to Bamboo before making an intersection towards Thulo Syabru. Head towards the Chandan Bari or as some call, Sing Gompa. Yonder towards Gosaikunda via the Lauribinayak and its hilltop. There are 108 lakes in the region with Gosaikunda overshadowing the other. This lake stays frozen for six long months and on the next, it slips up and mixes with the Trishuli River. Take in the views of the high peaks of Ganesh, Langtang Lirung, Langtang RI, Tserko RI, Manaslu, and many others.

While this trip can well be finished within 5 days, we have tailor-made this trip to include as much as beauty as possible.

Are you up to witness the grandiose beauty of the Gosaikunda fused with the Langtang Region?

Cover 122 kilometers via a 7 hours long drive to the village of Syabrubesi via Dhunche. Drive through the concrete black topped roads till Trishuli Bazaar. Forward from there sees us on rough roads and narrow bends to Dhunche and then to Syabrubesi. En-route, enjoy the first views of the Ganesh and the Manaslu Peaks.

Day 3:

Trek to Lama Hotel (2748 meters)

A peaceful day at Syabrubesi far from the hustle and bustle of the city. March forwards and across a suspension bridge over the Bhote Koshi River to arrive at Doman. An uphill stretch from here sees us at Pahiro and a short walk stops at Bamboo. Across the bamboo forest and further uphill hike makes way for Lower Rimche and eventually, Upper Rimche. An easy parade from here marks our entry at the Lama Hotel. Along the road, enjoy the Langtang River and a beautiful waterfall.

Day 4:

Trek to Langtang Village (3500 meters)

Soar through a lush rhododendron forest to get to Ghoda Tabela. A flat walk at the beginning and then an uphill hike sees us at Thangshyap. Further ascend completes our hike to the Langtang Village. This village saw complete destruction in the 2015 earthquake. However, there’s nothing to worry about now as just 100 meters away at a safer place, a new Langtang Village has been formed. While at Langtang, enjoy the views of the Langtang Lirung (7227 meters).

Day 5:

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3800 meters)

The trek to Kyanjin Gompa from Langtang Lirung is as easy as falling off a log. No sweat there, right? Kyanjin Gompa is home to the largest Mani wall in the country.  While here, explore the Gompa and also relish in the views of the Kyanjin RI, Tserko RI, Kinshung, and such other peaks. Don’t forget to make a visit to the Yak cheese factory at this village.

Day 6:

Summit Tserko RI (5000 meters) and Back

Rise early and hike up to the top of the Tserko RI at 5000 meters. Graze past yak pastures and ascend steeply to complete the summit. Delight in the views of the Langtang and Manaslu peaks from the top. Get back down and explore the rest of the Kyanjin Gompa. During the way, we’ll have options to either explore the valley or hike to the Langtang Lirung Glacier or even a lake nearby.

Day 7:

Trek Back to Lama Hotel (2748 meters)

An easy hike downhill takes us to the Langtang Village. Another downhill walk sees us at Thangshyap and eventually at Ghoda Tabela. Yet another descent sees us at the Lama Hotel.

Day 8:

Trek to Thulo Syabru (2000 meters)

Go around the trail we’ve already walked. Descend to the Upper Rimche and then to the Lower Rimche Valley before hiking past the Bamboo forest. Parade towards a new section of the trek instead of hiking towards Syabrubesi to arrive at the village of Thulo Syabru.

Day 9:

Trek to Chandan Bari (3250 meters)

An uphill hike through the rhododendron and pine forest first sees us at the village of Garta. Still up from there makes way for Phulung and then to the Chandan Bari. This village is also famous as Sing Gompa. While here don’t miss out on the fun while exploring the oldest Yak cheese factory of the country.

Day 10:

Trek to Gosaikunda (4460 meters)

March up through a pine forest to Cholongpati. Then a short hike takes us to the small settlement of Lauribinayak. Climb up a steep section of rocks to arrive at the top of the hill. Luxuriate in the views of the Ganesh, Manaslu, Langtang RI, Langtang Lirung, and such other peaks from the top. Now, plummet to a gorge and walk flat till we lay foot at Gosaikunda. Gosaikunda is the major lake among the 108 lakes in and around this area. Enjoy the views of the lake that remains frozen for six months and then melts into the Trishuli River in the next. Savor the moment while at Gosaikunda.

Day 11:

Trek to Dhunche (2030 meters)

Hike flat then uphill to the hilltop and again downhill to arrive at Lauribinayak. Trace your trails back to Cholongpati and farther in to Sing Gompa. Descent takes us to Syabrubesi and a short walk sees us at Dhunche. Most certainly the last day of your trekking journey.

Day 12:

Drive back to Kathmandu (1440 meters)

Get the last look at the Langtang Lirung and bid farewell to them! Early drive along the Trishuli River will see us back at the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu.

Day 13:
