Overview

One of the best hidden trails in the country, Khopra Danda Trek sits atop the off the beaten path trekking packages in Nepal with a blend of culture and unexplored geography. Not only is this hike known for its uninterrupted scenery, but also for the hospitality of the Tamang people.

The trek to this region starts off the same as the Annapurna Base Camp; with a drive to Pokhara. While the other trekking trips follow the trails towards Ulleri, the Khora Danda Trek sees us at Ghandruk following a short drive. Trek starts from the Gurung village and first takes us to Tadapani. Our next stop Bhaisi Kharka or as locals say, Dobato is not far from Tadapani - it's just a short trek through the rhododendron and juniper forest.

A hard day's trek today marks our arrival at the village of Chitsibung. There are two parts of the town, and we'll end the day's trip in the upper section of the valley. Parading along the narrow trails via a thin forest, we strive towards Khopra Danda. Explore the hill and descend a few meters down to get to the Khopra Danda Viewpoint with panoramic views of the Annapurna peaks alongside the Kali Gandaki River Valley. The next day, our trek takes us to Khayer Lake at 4500 meters surrounded by Fang and Dhaulagiri peaks. Plunge towards Narchyung before finally arriving at Tatopani, famous for its hot springs. Don't forget about the massive waterfall along the way, the Narchyung waterfall. Take in the views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Hiunculi, Machhapuchhre, and such other peaks before finally driving back to Pokhara then to Kathmandu via the Prithvi Highway.

If you haven't traveled to Khopra Danda and Khayer Lake, then you haven't actually gone anywhere!
